EEF Research Agenda: Consultation

Introduction

The best education research starts with the questions that matter most to those working in education. As we develop our next programme of research, we want to hear from people across the education sector about the challenges, opportunities and priorities that our research should help address.

We are seeking views from people working in, with, or alongside education settings across early years, schools and 16–19 education.

This is not a vote on what EEF should fund, and responses will not be treated as representative of the whole sector. But by sharing your experiences and insights, you can help us better understand the challenges, pressures and unanswered questions facing the education sector - helping to shape the future of our research. We want to understand the issues and challenges you are seeing, what makes them difficult to address, and what kinds of evidence, resources or support might be useful in practice.

The survey is structured as follows:


·        Section 1: About you and your setting

·        Section 2: Issues and challenges in your context

·        Section 3: Socioeconomic disadvantage

·        Section 4: Follow-up discussion (optional)

Findings will be reported in summary form and will not identify individual respondents or settings.


The core survey should take around 10 minutes. You can also indicate at the end of the survey if you would like to join a follow-up conversation.

Providing your contact details is optional. If you choose to share them, the EEF may use them to contact you about a possible follow-up discussion related to this consultation.

Your contact details will be stored securely and, where possible, separately from your survey responses. They will not be included in any reporting or shared outside the team working on this consultation.

Section 3: Questions on Socioeconomic Disadvantage
The EEF’s mission is to support improved outcomes for socioeconomically disadvantaged children and young people. 

By ‘disadvantaged’, we mean educational challenges linked to children and young people’s socio-economic circumstances. 

We recognise that many respondents will have answered the previous questions from a broad perspective, and we do not want to assume that every issue affects every group in the same way. 

Section 4: Expression of Interest in Sharing Further Insights  
We are seeking views from people working in, with, or alongside education settings across early years, schools and 16–19 education.

As such we are recruiting participants to take join online user interviews or focus groups, to look deeper at their experiences.
