Thank you for your interest in a Pupil Premium strategy review. Please read the information below carefully before completing the questions that follow.
What is on offer?
Starting in early 2027, the Research Schools Network will work with individual schools and provide advice and support to help them plan, implement and evaluate improvements to their Pupil Premium strategy. This will help them make sure that they’re making the most of their Pupil Premium funding and centring their plans on evidence-backed approaches.
Each review is expected to take around two terms. The Research Schools Network will work with school leaders, teachers and pupils to understand the local context and the challenges the school is facing.
Through a mixture of online meetings and in-person school visits, the reviews will provide reflections on areas for development and signpost to helpful resources to help further improve the strategy. Follow-up support will help schools put changes into practice.
Who is eligible?
Schools are eligible for support if they are in the lowest 25% nationally for disadvantaged pupils' attainment. This is based on 3 year average attainment outcomes for disadvantaged pupils for academic years 22/23, 23/24 and 24/25 provided by the Department for Education.
For primary schools this is based on the percentage of disadvantaged pupils achieving expected levels in Reading, Writing and Maths (below: 36.67%). For secondary schools this is based on Attainment 8 (below 32.17).
Some schools may not be included if their cohorts were too small, or where there were gaps in data between years that could not be reconciled.
Our overall aim is to ensure the reviews target schools where support has the greatest potential to improve outcomes for disadvantaged pupils.
You can determine if your school qualifies by typing the school name into the box below.
If your school is not on this list, you are not eligible for a Pupil Preview strategy review. However, you may wish to look into broader support that your local Research School can offer - click
